To Be Clear about Lyme

I Just wanted to tell eveybody that I never had the classic bull's eye rash, I never remember having a tick on me for more than a minute much less 24 - 36 hours nor any of the other listed initial signs of having Lyme Disease. This and my tests coming back negative every time except for the last time tell you how duplicitous this disease can be and how wrong the standards for treatment and diagnosis are.

Jeff, I had no idea of all that you had been going through. I knew you had been sick about a year and half ago and that things were bad. But then I had heard you were better and when we would see you things seemed so good. I feel so bad I did not know.
I have always admired you and Barbara and I have always been so grateful to you for having opened up the outside world to me through kayaking. I wish you both the best and a speedy recovery. You are good people and wonderful parents and deserve only the best. I am not surprised that you want to help others who may be going through this.

Please know Ben and I are here for you both.

Hello Jeff,

I was a Police Officer in Douglas for 23 yrs. Being on a K9 Unit back in early 80's, I got really sick and could not shake the flu.

After months it seemed to go away, but started having many problems.

In 1997 I found a tick under my right arm and my primary care & good friend on West St. told me that I didn't have lime re. tests / blood twice.

Couldn't function in 1999 and lost my job.

In 2002 after Bell's Palsey & much more, I went to a clinic in RI and was tested later by DNA and it came back posi for LYME.

My family calls it SLIME - your sick - you got Lyme - it's SLIME.

I am very familiar with what we call the MACK TRUCK SYNDROME "HERCKS".

I am still 1/2 OK and looking to help & get help.

56 yoa and not giving up.

Hi Jeff,

Well, I had typed out my story here but apparently there's a character limit. Anyway - I'm a new lyme patient.

Maybe I'll email you my story since I couldn't post it on comments.

I do want to wish you and your wife the best. I hope that you start having more better days than bad days.

Thank you for sharing your story and offering to help others. I'm sure anyone with Lyme appreciates it. I know I do.

Take care Jeff,
Sheryl.

ps: I was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease on 6/26/09.

So sorry to hear about your struggles. I lost my Mom to this horrible disease.
